HOPE Shop in Chester-le-Street

The HOPE Charity Shop is at 73-75 Front Street, Chester le Street. DH3 3BJ. We are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30am – 4:00pm.

We have an astonishing amount of stock, due to the fabulous donations we receive on a daily basis. We accept and stock everything, except furniture, electrical items, duvets and pillows.

Clothing, Shoes, Bags, Suitcases, Toys, Bric-A-Brac, DVDs, CD’s, Books, Records, Linen, even Cassettes get rehomed through us.

We really appreciate the donations that have been washed, rather than peoples dirty laundry, but are happy to take laundered, damaged clothing and linen items, as we can recycle them to make commercial rags.

We are, without doubt one of the most competitively priced Charity Shops around, however we have a duty to the generosity of our supporters, to get the best prices we can for the higher end, sometimes brand-new, branded items.

Every item of clothing is scrutinised for marks, snags, holes etc and if necessary, laundered, before being tagged, cubed, hung and steamed. Every game or puzzle is counted to ensure all the pieces are in place. Every book and disc are checked for damage, every toy is washed and battery checked (where required) to ensure they are in full working order. Every pair of shoes and bag are checked for scuffs, marks and tears etc.

Upstairs, we have a fully functional Community Hub and kitchen, to provide seating, comfortably for up 25 people.

The Hub can be hired out for meetings and will be used for Community Groups, Breakfast Clubs, Craft Mornings, Coffee Mornings, Film Afternoons, Social Groups, Therapy Sessions etc.
